Must have features for Mac Pages in 2020

I have been using Pages in my Macbook Pro for a long time and I also use Microsoft applications in Windows for my office work. I think I have credibility of requesting new features and must have features in Pages to take on Microsoft Word. Following were few of my observations and recommendations for improving Pages on par with Microsoft Word.

  • Grammar Checking: Checking grammar and spelling in Pages is inferior when compared to Grammar checking options in Microsoft Word. The sentence formation and intelligence of highlighting grammar error was far superior in Microsoft Word than in Mac Pages.
  • Formatting Options: Even though Pages have all formatting options as in Microsoft word, finding it applying the formats to the text is a big pain in the ass.
  • Mac Pages should either acquire Grammarly or related grammar artificial intelligence tools for better integration and insights on poof reading.

With absence of new Grammar insight tools from Apple, I personally feel Mac Pages still has long way to catch up Microsoft Word and with new updates for every month on new features, they are still going ahead of Mac Pages. Please follow blog posts from “G R Team Sites” for more such updates.

Anticipation for next steps during Covid-19 pandemic

While the coronavirus pandemic was getting started around different cities, it was slowly getting into my city and work locations. A few days earlier my manager and I were discussing its impact on other countries and how it will impact if it affects countries like us. We were unaware of its impact and when each day passed on, the Covid-19 virus fear was taking over and it was spreading faster than the forest fire. With news channels publishing status about new Coronavirus in the country, myself and my manager was witnessing a drop in traffic and noticed few people scheduling a meeting with onsite counterpart requesting work from home options. I was not worried much, because I had planned my long vacation for next week and anyway would be traveling to native shortly. However, with all colleagues talking about the severity of the coronavirus, I wanted to check with my manager about the possibility of working from home. Post conversation, I was disappointed because my manager was conveying that he would still wait and decide about the situation. Reopen old service request before long vacation

I was shuffling between old and new service requests occasionally, I was waiting for the time to come for focusing on the dedicated service requests and not to deviate with multiple requests on my plate. Coming back to the service request, which I was working earlier, the opportunity moved from the start stage to end-stage and I had no role to play there. Therefore, I closed my work for the day earlier than usual, went home to spend quality time with my family, and was hoping, that the next day I get a good service request to work on. The next day, I went late to the office and was checking my emails during the first half of the day and to my surprise, no work was assigned to me. This made me completely worry as, it could end in two different ways, one thing is, I can get the most complicated service request and another part is I may need to work for my managers’ report, which is most hostile work in the team. Out of nowhere, I got a mail from my old service request thread, requesting my support for the next few days and worrying part was I had my long vacation plans. I was in a confused stage, whether to be happy about getting little work from my old service request or to be worried about getting work before vacation, which has a high probability of influencing my vacation. Surprisingly no work after a long time

I was waiting till the end of the day call with the onsite team to get additional information for the service request and get inputs from them to make necessary changes in the deck I have share with the team. I was praying that the call should go as planned and the onsite team shouldn’t change their expectation nor their requirements, as they usually change between every day. The call started, as usual, I was detailing the slides I have created in the deck and was providing my validation for each of those pointers. Now, I gave a pause and was checking with the onsite team whether we are in the right direction or did we get new suggestions or requirements from the client. Surprising the onsite team was completely fine with my slides and was appreciating my effort to capture exact client requirements and bringing in the right slides. During the call, the onsite was conveying that we had required deck from the offshore team and now the deck has to be completed by an onsite team with relevant information.
